mainly because they are so simple to grow and care for.

Petunias
Spacing: 9-12 inches apart
Plant from 4 inch containers, the sooner - the better.
Use Superphosphate for more blooms.

Canna
Spacing: 12-24 inches apart (depending on dwarf or
regular variety)
Plant from bulb or 6" containers into the fall. Nice
alternative if you would like reoccuring color.

Portulca - Moss Rose
Spacing: 9-12 inches apart
Plant in April or later throughout the Summer from 2 1/4
inch containers.

Caladium
Spacing: depends upon
variety
Plant from bulb or 4" containers into the fall. This
plant will do well in shade only.

Zinnias
Spacing: 12 inches apart
Easy to grow. Plant from 2 1/4 or 4 inch containers. Easy
to grow from seed once chances of frost have passed. Use
Superphosphates for moreblooms

Mums / Asters
Spacing: 12 - 18 inches
apart (depending upon variety)
Plant from mid to late August from 4 to 6" containers.
Fertilize at least once a month until the buds show color.
Avoid light at night because it could retard blooms. This
plant will do well in partial shade.

Marigolds
Spacing: 12 inches apart
Plant after last frost from 2 1/4 or 4" containers.
Replant in midsummer for fall bloom.

Pansy
Spacing: 8-9 inches
apart
Plant from mid to late October until March from 4"
containers.Extreme cold can wilt the plant and ice can
kill it. However, the plant usually weathersthrough snow
with no problem. Superphosphate for more blooms.

Periwinkle
Spacing: 12 inches apart
Plant after last frost from 2 1/4 or 4" containers.
Carpet preiwinkle is a newer variety that is wonderfully
disease resistant and grows by runners. This plant will
also do well in partial shade.

Spacing: 8-10 inches
apart
Plant when weather turns cooler until late winter from
4" containers. his plant will do well in partial
shade.

Mexican Heather
Spacing: 9 to 12 inches
apart
Plant after last frost and into the fall. Lovely fern-like
appearance with purple flowers. Prefers eastern exposure.
